Triple review merch hack by Alex Hormozi

want more reviews? use this bribe (it works)

Most people beg for reviews like it’s a middle school group project—awkward, uncomfortable, and usually ignored. But what if you could turn that around with something people actually want?

Enter: the humble, high-quality t-shirt. Not the scratchy promo kind, but a shirt people are proud to wear—and all they have to do is leave you some honest love online. It’s cheap, effective, and sneaky genius.

Here's how to turn $5 shirts into non-stop social proof (and walking ads).

SALES

$5 for 3 reviews? This hack works.

Most businesses beg for reviews or hope customers leave them naturally. Here's what actually worked for me when launching new locations: exclusive merch in exchange for triple-platform reviews.

Here's exactly what I did:

I ordered t-shirts for $5-6 each (get the nice ones). I put a cool design on it and put my logo on the back or sleeve. I asked people who wanted one for free in my online community. A ton of people did. Then I told them they were not for sale and ONLY available for people who left us an honest review on all 3 platforms (Google, Yelp, and Facebook).

The math was simple:

Cost: $5 per shirt

Return: 3 genuine reviews ($1.67 per review)

Extra benefit: Walking billboards

Key execution points:

  1. Make the shirts actually look good & good quality (people won't wear ugly freebies)

  2. Show them exactly how to leave reviews (screenshot instructions)

  3. Don’t ask for 5-star reviews. Ask for honest reviews. Less cringe. (They’ll still all be good).

  4. Have them show you the reviews to get the shirt

  5. Give the shirt immediately - no delays

  6. BONUS: ask them if they want you to take a picture with it on or at the facility and post it.
